My approach is client centered and has enabled me to view the therapeutic relationship as a significant agent of change for those seeking to work on long standing life issues or every day difficulties. My counseling style combines psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral interventions, depending on the unique needs of the individuals and couples in my practice (bilingual/English & Spanish speaking). This combination produces an emphatic relationship with my clients that motivates, encourages and inspires them to look inward at much needed changes as well as developing practical approaches to help create those changes. I strive to create an atmosphere of acceptance and a safe place that fosters exploration, change and growth.
I believe that most of us desire to have fulfilled, satisfying lives and relationships in which we can be understood and accepted, but this is often impaired by thoughts and beliefs that keep us repeating dead end cycles. We are also impacted by past hurts, wounds, childhood abuse and experiences that can create depression, anxiety, stress and co-dependent relationships. In working with these areas, I assist and guide clients in pin-pointing the core issues and help them begin to focus on the healthier aspects of their potential by exploring alternative perspectives and solutions while we work to meet the therapeutic goals. I look forward to working with you to help you on your life's journey.

Certifications and Expertise
I am certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), which rounds out my work with post traumatic stress issues that negatively impact relationships, communication, life transitions/changes and everyday functioning. I hold a Biblical Counseling certificate from Living Word Bible College (Pasadena, CA.), and work with individuals and couples that are interested in combining the Christian biblical principles of their faith with the psychological aspects of their issues through Christian counseling.
Education and Training
I have over 20 years experience in the mental health field and received my Master's Degree in Clinical/Community Psychology from Pepperdine University. This led to becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and then going on to four years of post-graduate Doctoral coursework in clinical psychology at the California Graduate Institute of Psychology in Los Angeles. I also work with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) providing wellness seminar topics, employee orientations as well as management trainings. These guide and provide ways for groups to deal with work/life issues and stressors.
